28 December 2018

Honoured Scientist of Russia and Chief Cardiac Surgeon of the Russian Ministry of Health, Academician of Russian Academy of Siences, President of the National Health League All-Russian Public Organization Leo Bokeria is set to participate in the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+, which will be held in Sochi on 13 February 2019, the opening day of the Russian Investment Forum.

As part of the demographic theme block, Dr. Bokeria is expected to take part in the ‘Public Health in the Regions’ panel session focusing on the measures necessary to achieve the national goal of increasing healthy life expectancy from the present 63 years to 67. The session will cover issues concerning the implementation of public health programmes for the public health and epidemiological wellbeing of the population, vaccinations, motivating people to reject harmful lifestyle choices, measures to restrict the sale of alcohol and tobacco, encouraging healthy eating, conducting preventative examinations, and other measures to improve public health.

“An integrated approach to a healthy lifestyle is not just a statement to be made but real results that need to be achieved, and it would be nice if the rules necessary for a healthy lifestyle were applied more often in practice and a generation brought up without the burden of bad habits – and it is possible. It’s really not that hard. There is a simple way to get rid of bad habits – it is to acquire good habits,” Bokeria said.

At the same time, the National Health League All-Russian Public Organization will be organizing two GAZelle NEXT mobile health centres and a Healthy Lifestyle Office, which will operate in the exhibition presentation area and where participants will be invited to test their bodies’ physical, mental, and adaptive capabilities.

More detailed information can be found on the official website for the event, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
