Russia has joined the global healthy lifestyle movement. According to VCIOM, 55% of Russians believe that the quality of food has an impact on their health. According to a study conducted in September 2019, more than half of Russians (63%) participate in sporting activities, which is on par with advanced economies. The surge of interest in healthy lifestyles has generated a significant volume of unverified and unproven information – we are surrounded by the conflicting opinions of experts, athletes, scientists, and doctors. What is fact and what is fiction? The participants will discuss this at the session: 80+ Without Disease: Myths, Theories, and Practices.

Discussion topics
• Should we wait and search for a ‘magic pill’ from old age or can we take control of this right now?
• A healthy lifestyle: how to distinguish between marketers who manipulate our fears and practices that are of genuine benefit for our health?
• When does old age begin? What is old age?
• Life is like long-distance running. How can we programme ourselves to live a long life? Why live a long life?
• Longevity at all costs. But at what cost?
