“Roscongress Cup — Governors’ Cup” run to be held at Russian Investment Forum

9 February 2018
The “Roscongress Cup – Governors’ Cup” run, which is part of the sporting programme of the Russian Investment Forum, will take place on the Formula One track in Sochi on at 7:15 on 15 February. Forum participants as well as residents and guests of Sochi will have the opportunity to run distances of 5,555 and 11,111 metres.

“The unique distance of the run at the Sochi Autodrom includes prominent Olympic facilities,” Roscongress Foundation Deputy Director Georgy Bryusov said. “Just recently, the Court of Arbitration for Sport reinstated the Russian team’s victory in the team competition at Sochi 2014. But nobody can deprive Russia one of the main results of the 2014 Winter Olympics – the country’s legacy. Sochi is a world leader among winter Olympic capitals in terms of the demand for and effective use of Olympic infrastructure. The Russian Investment Forum will be held at Sochi’s super-technology facilities, which were built with the involvement of the country’s leading companies and regions in one way or another. And now the leaders of companies and regions will come to the Forum to talk about their achievements and to present new breakthrough projects. Meanwhile, many of them will toe the starting line at the run to get a boost of energy for the business programme.”

The run is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Russian Triathlon Federation and the company Universa. The sports programme of the Russian Investment Forum will also feature the 3rd Sochi Corporate Games, which are included in the official calendar of events of the Russian Ministry of Sport. On 17 February, teams comprised of officials from government and commercial structures of Sochi and the Krasnodar Territory will compete in football, volleyball, basketball, weight-lifting, pull-ups, push-ups, and other sports included in the programme. The Corporate Games will be held in a significant place for Russian sports – a centre named after three-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Alexander Karelin. The centre serves as the main training base for the Russian national wrestling and judo teams, which won 19 gold medals at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games.
