Business calls Russian market the most interesting for investment

18 January 2018

Russian businessmen say the domestic market is the most interesting for investment, according to Ernst & Young (EY) experts based on a survey of major entrepreneurs.

According to the ‘Company Confidence Barometer’ survey conducted by EY, 45% of respondents cited the appeal of domestic production at the end of 2017.

Entrepreneurs are planning to invest most in the oil and gas sector and industry, 71% of the respondents said. This was followed by the medical and biological as well as the mining and metallurgical industries, which were cited by 63% and 60% of the respondents, respectively.

According to EY Managing Partner for Russia Alexander Ivlev, this is due to the fact that “many companies have become more interested in manufacturing products in Russia for further export to third countries”.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) told Izvestia that the current macroeconomic indicators are not only attracting Russian businessmen, but foreign investors as well.
