Tver Region to receive more than RUB 200 m in tourism infrastructure funding

9 March 2017

Tver is among 22 Russian regions to receive subsidies from the federal budget, according to a statement by the press service of the regional government.

The Tver Region will receive RUB 216 m in federal funds under a special programme. The money is intended for constructing the infrastructure for a tourism and recreation cluster and for creating a comfortable environment for inbound tourism and travel services.

“We would like to establish an infrastructure that would allow us to attract more tourists and provide a broad range of services”, regional Governor Igor Rudenya told the recent Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

Implementing the programme for development of the Tver Region’s tourism sector is expected to double inbound tourist numbers, which could reach up to three million annually over the next five years.
